Applications CLOSED Guaranteed Income for Transgender People (G.I.F.T.) will provide economically marginalized transgender people with unrestricted, monthly guaranteed income as a way to combat poverty our most impacted community members face. The Transgender District and Lyon-Martin Community Health Services, in partnership with municipal city departments in the City and County of San Francisco, will provide 55 Transgender residents of San Francisco C ounty with $1,200 a month in guaranteed income for a year and a half. The program will prioritize enrollment of Transgender, Non-Binary, Gender Non-Conforming, and Intersex (TGI) people who are also Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC), experiencing homelessness, living with disabilities and chronic illnesses, youth and elders, monolingual Spanish-speakers, and those who are legally vulnerable such as TGI people who are undocumented, engaging in survival sex trades, or are formerly incarcerated. The Transgender District transgenderdistrictsf.com The Transgender District is a Tenderloin neighborhood cultural district centering on the presence of Transgender people in San Francisco. It is the first legally recognized district of its kind in the world. Founded by 3 black transgender women, the organization has led social change innovation both locally and nationally over the past 5 years. The Transgender District leads local, state, and national transgender advocacy, with a focus on Economic empowerment, Cultural and Historical Preservation, and Transgender empowerment programs. Lyon-Martin Community Health Services lyon-martin.org Lyon-Martin Community Health Services' mission is to provide high-quality, compassionate, and trauma-informed medical, gynecological, and mental health care services to trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming, intersex communities, and cis-gender women. With specific sensitivity to LGBTQA sexual orientation, disability, race, ethnicity, and language regardless of immigration status or ability to pay. Lyon-Martin Community Health Services will provide wrap-around peer-led services such as gender-affirming primary medical and holistic care, gynecological and sexual health care, mental health services, case management, crisis response services, financial literacy training, and workforce development services, and outreach and harm reduction services, to the enrollees. FAQ Here are some basic guidelines and answers to questions you may have about the program. Please contact us if you have questions not answered on this page. Do I qualify to apply for this program? Applicants must: be 18 and up; not be receiving more than $600/monthly in income; reside in the City and County of San Francisco; be willing and able to complete a survey every 3 months, and submit a complete application . How many people will be selected? 55 recipients will be selected for the pilot program. How long is the program? The program will last 18 months: January 2023 to June 2024. How much will I get? $1,200 per month. Can I apply for the program if I am undocumented? Yes, you can still be eligible. How is the money disbursed? Each participant will receive a Debit Visa card that will be reloaded with funds each month. If I move outside of San Francisco, can I still receive funds? The program is funded by the city and county of San Francisco, so all enrollees must be residents in the City and County of San Francisco. What is required to stay in the program? The completion of surveys every 3 months to help improve the program. Will I have to report my spending? You do not have to report your spending. Each participant is only required to participate in follow-ups every 3 months and allow us to collect information on the impact of the program. Data collected is beneficial for the continuation the program. Who will have access to my information, and who will it be shared with, if enrolled? All healthcare related information will be kept confidential within Lyon-Martin Community Health Services unless authorized by the enrollee. We will request that a release of information be signed at the time of enrollment to allow for the sharing of data with the City of San Francisco and the Transgender District. How much can I make while still being enrolled in the program? The maximum income while enrolled is $4,000/month. What happens if I lose the card? If you lose your Debit card, please contact a Lyon-Martin Representative as soon as possible to receive a new card. Can I sign up again after 18 months? At this time, G.I.F.T is starting as a pilot program. The program’s continuation is based on funding availability. If the program continues after the 18 months, we will post updated information regarding new eligibility requirements. When will the next program participants be selected after this first round of funding? The next round of applications will open in 2024 if city funding is extended beyond June 2024.
